
Nassau Captures Region 15 Men's Volleyball Championship
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The top-seeded Nassau Community College men's volleyball team defeated No. 3 seed Borough of Manhattan Community College, in straight sets, to earn the Region 15 Championship this past Saturday afternoon.
This marks the Lions' first men's volleyball regional championship in program history
Thomas Wildeman of Nassau was named the Region 15 Tournament's Most Valuable Player. He slammed 10 kills, compiled a hitting percentage of .643, produced seven digs, and scored three service aces in the championship match against the Panthers (6-9). Region 15 Player of the Year Suhaib Amar also generated 10 putdowns, seven defensive bumps, and three aces, while also adding a block, to help lead Nassau to the regional title.
The Lions (21-2) defeated No. 4 seed Monroe University - Bronx in a semifinal matchup, 3-0, earlier in the day. The Panthers earned an upset win over second-seeded and last year's Region 15 Championship winner Monroe University - New Rochelle, 3-1, just prior to the championship match.
The two semifinal contests and the championship match took place at Nassau Main Gym.

Nassau, Monroe - Bronx (10-18), and Monroe - New Rochelle (14-7) will compete in the National Invitational, hosted by Finger Lakes Community College, from April 4 until April 6. More details will be published soon.
