Lea Reimer Becomes First Runner In Program History To Be Named NJCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Charlotte, North Carolina – Freshman Lea Reimer continues to rewrite the BMCC women's cross country program record books during the 2023 campaign, adding another accolade to her arsenal, becoming the first runner in the BMCC Cross Country program's history to be named NJCAA Division III Cross Country Runner of the Week after capturing the schools first ever CUNYAC Women's Community College Cross Country Individual Championship last Sunday. The national honor is the first for Reimer.
The freshman from Germany has made a major impact in her first season with the Panther's program and put an exclamation point on it last weekend at the 2023 CUNYAC Cross Country Championships amongst a fiercely competitive field of 63 runners from NCAA and NJCAA institutions, winning the Women's Community College Cross Country Individual Championship as the top finisher among Junior College competitors and a school record second place finish overall. Reimer crossed the tape at 28:00.6, just a minute behind the 2023 CUNYAC Four Year Women's Cross Country Individual Champion Paz Moran, who finished with a time of 26:48.4.
Reimer finished in the top ten for the second time this season after accomplishing the same feat in her Collegiate debut at the Mt. St. Mary Invitational a month ago when she finished tenth.
