Monroe-Bronx Softball's Lauren Vuorinen Named Program's Second-Ever Region 15 Gold Glove Recipient

Bronx, New York - After putting together an outstanding season as the staple of the Monroe-Bronx infield Express, freshman Lauren Vuorinen was named the 2024 Region XV Gold Glove Winner as voted on by the Region coaches. Vuorinen is the Express's second Gold Glove Winner in program history, joining Ashleigh Stewart, who grabbed the honor in 2022.

Vuorinen was crucial in leading Monroe-Bronx to a bounce-back season. The Bronx, New York native led her squad in three defensive categories with a .963 fielding percentage, 42 assists, and tying for first with four double plays turned, which was also ranked eighth in the country.

The freshman also recorded a season-high five putouts three times this season and registered 62 putouts overall. Vuorinen also got it done with her bat during the 2024 season, tying for first on the team with three three-hit performances while also registering a hit in 22 of her 35 games. Vuorinen also ranked third in batting average (.405), hits (34), and tying for third in multi-hit games (8) and two-hit games (5). 

The 2024 Region XV All-Region First Team selection also recorded a season-high three hits three times against Bucks County Community College twice and once against NJCAA Division III No. 5 ranked Rowan College South Jersey—Gloucester. She has also posted three multi-RBI games this season.
