Charlotte, North Carolina - The 2023 Region XV Champion Suffolk Community College Sharks Women's Softball team came in at No. 10 in the NJCAA Softball Division III week five poll announced Monday by the NJCAA. The Sharks were ranked as high as No. 7 in the poll this season, which was their preseason standing going into the 2023-24 Softball season.

Despite dropping two contests, 8-1 and 9-3, against a talented Division II Orange County Community College squad, the Sharks still boast a lethal offense that makes a pitching assignment a challenge.

Suffolk ranks in the top five statistical categories in the country. The Sharks lead the nation in batting average (.474) and slugging percentage (.759) while ranking second in on base percentage (.545), fourth in triples (20), and seventh in sacrifice flies (7).

Sophomore Brooke Bove is Suffolk's top offensive threat, leading the country in batting average (.686) while ranking second in slugging percentage (1.257), third in on base percentage (.689) and sacrifice flys (3), and fifth in triples (5).

Laci Edwards is dominant on the mound for the Sharks, leading the team with 34 strikeouts and ranking seventh in the nation with two shutouts this season.
