Gill, Fittmann, McCabe Named To NJCAA Men's Lacrosse All-America First Team; Four Lions Land on All-American Second Team

Charlotte, North Carolina - The 2023 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse All-America Teams were released on Friday, and the Nassau Community College Lions men's lacrosse team boasted a nation's best seven selections, with Kamryn Gill, Andrew Tittmann, and Brendan McCabe leading the way with NJCAA Lacrosse First Team accolades. In addition, sophomores Brian Pohorecky, Sean Gillespie, Thomas Mai, and freshman Houston Horton all landed on the All-America Second Team.

The Lion's quest for a third consecutive National Championship and 24th overall in program history were squashed when Harford (MD) defeated them 13-8 in the 2023 Championship game for their first-ever National title. While the result may not have been the way the Lions wanted to end the season, their players still put up consistently throughout the regular season and in the 2023 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

Gill was the engine that made the Lion's offense in 2023, finishing his sophomore season tops on the team in goals (45), assists (26), and points (71). He also completed the year in the top 10 nationally in five different statistical categories ranking second in shots on goal with 71, third in shots with 107, and fifth in points with 71 while being sixth and seventh in goals and assists with 45 and 26, respectively. In addition, Gill was huge in the tournament netting four goals and two assists for six points to lead the Lions.

Tittmann was a stalwart in the net for the Lions and one of the nation's top goalies, finishing his career in the top five in the country in seven different categories. The East Northport, New York native led the country in goals against average with 6.26 while also ranking second in save percentage (65.4%), games started (12), games played (12), and being third nationally in wins with nine. His 604:14 minutes and 63 goals against were also fourth and fifth in the country. He was also ninth nationally in saves with 119, including seven double-digit save efforts, with two coming in the national tournament against Onondaga in the semifinals and Harford (MD) in the championship game.

McCabe was the Lion's top shutdown defender all season in the back, with 18 caused turnovers.

Mai was a major complimentary player on offense for the Lions 2023 squad as he was second in goals with 30 and points with 46, while Horton was a terror from the X all season for Nassau Community College, leading the country in faceoff wins with 203 while his 63 groundballs were tops on the team and good for eighth in the nation. Horton came into the 2023 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament with the best faceoff percentage in the country and finished the season 16th in the nation with a 74.4% win rate.

Sophomores Pohorecky and Gillespie were also crucial to Nassau's attack and defense, with Pohoreckyj leading the Lions with 18 assists and ranking third with 35 points. Gillespie was third with 13 caused turnovers.
