Bonvini produced a storybook career in Brooklyn for the Wave Baseball program leading them to back-to-back CUNYAC Community College Baseball Championships and their sixth and seventh in program history while being tabbed as the Conference Pitcher of the Year during both his years with the program. Bonvini was also named a 2023 All-Region XV First Team as his right arm powered the Wave to the program's first Region XV Championship since 1972.

"We are very excited for Francesco and his future with the Italian National Team," said Kingsborough head baseball coach Brian Dowd. "We wish him the best and know that he will represent his home country proudly. Bonvini is a great example of how global our national pastime has become. We hope he continues to grow as a player and a person. Don't be surprised to see him competing for Italy In the 2026 World Baseball Classic."

Bonvini produced a strong 2023 campaign. He finished tied for the most strikeouts in the country (121), while ranking among the top-10 nationally in wins (8) and innings pitched (79.0). He also got it done in the classroom, receiving the CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention honors.
