ALBANY, N.Y. - The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) proudly announces that Olivia Corabi, an exceptional member of the women's cross country team, has been awarded the prestigious SUNY Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This honor highlights her extraordinary achievements both on the racecourse and in the classroom.

The SUNY Scholar-Athlete Awards recognize student-athletes from SUNY colleges and universities sponsoring intercollegiate athletics at the four- and two-year levels who were nominated and voted upon by representatives of their respective institutions. Students are nominated by their institutions based on their cumulative grade point average, current and career statistics, and athletic and academic honors.

The SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards recognize outstanding academic and athletic success in 29 different sports and are presented three times a year to coincide with the specific sports contested in the fall, winter and spring seasons. The Scholar Athletes of the Year in each sport will then be nominated for an overall Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's sports and women's sports in each category that will be announced in mid-July.

During a phenomenal season, Olivia earned several remarkable achievements. She was named a Second Team All-American and delivered an outstanding performance at the National Championship race, finishing 6th overall individually. Her efforts led the FIT Tigers to a 6th place team finish, securing their position among the top 10 teams in the nation. Additionally, Olivia was recognized as the Northeast Region Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, solidifying her reputation as a dominant force in regional competition.

Olivia transferred to FIT from the University of Vermont, where she earned an outstanding 3.95 GPA, demonstrating her dedication to academic excellence alongside her athletic success.

Olivia's dedication, perseverance, and leadership have left an indelible mark on the FIT Athletics program, reinforcing its tradition of producing student-athletes who excel in all areas of life.
